What doesn't destroy you, leaves you BROKEN instead note + tag
Life had drastically changed since the fools split into two clubs and it was just surreal. Her family was basically fighting over a shit hole sector and she was put up against her own brother. Though she had always fought him about her wanting to join his lifestyle so it wasn't much different. Just made family dinner on Sundays a lot more complicated and full of silence. Sometimes it was a blessing because her brother wasn't the ominous shadow that caused her to be avoided by any guy she tried to talk to. In hindsight it wasn't a good thing because as of recently her boyfriend was found to be a lying and cheater sack of crap.
So now instead of having her brother, Nova spent her time alone for the most part and crying in her apartment at the clubhouse. Lulu wanted to help but sometimes she was angry at her aunt as well for letting this club thing get out of control. After a few weeks of feeling sorry for herself and deciding to go out for once. Nova was wandering through the down town streets with the Fallen Angels jacket on her shoulders. As she was passing some little puke hole of a bar, There was a sign in the window that caught her eye.
It was an open mic night and she could hear the 'talent' from the streets. As unimpressive as it was she still went in and signed up just for the fun of it. Sure she may have been some criminal bad ass but she had her secret hobbies and singing was one of them. Though most of the time she was alone and in the shower when she sang. Taking two shot while she waited to try and drown out the others singing voices and calm her own nerves.
Stage fright seemed silly for someone like her but it had been real struggle. When the bar owner got on the small stage and called her up, She almost wanted to walk right back out the door but she moved towards the stage and took the mic. Pulling out a flash drive of her own melodies and handing it to the man running the sound system she listened the music coming on.

WHERE DO YOU GOWITH YOUR BROKEN HEART IN TOW, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE LEFTOVER YOU. LOOK ME IN THE ❤and tell me you won't go and promise no love's like our love. Being a musician in Sector one isn’t really the easiest thing until your agent can get you into the big gigs of the Capitol. Those gigs have helped Joseph and his friend Kyle get to where they are today. Although they knew they could be somewhere better, they felt at home in Sector one. They day had gone on pretty uneventful. Video games, thinking of new lyrics for songs, and just being goofballs. When that had gotten boring they decided to hit the town.
Walking around they hadn’t expected to find anything entertaining until they came across a dive bar where they had started off their career. Walking inside they smiled and looked at some of the familiar faces. Giving high fives, receiving shuffled hair and happy cheers. “You gonna sign up for the little open mic night?” One of the regulars had asked and Joseph shrugged, smiling and scratching the back of his neck nervously. “I don’t know. Maybe let someone else have the spotlight for tonight. I can have it anytime I want it.”
They guys chuckled some as the boy went and sat in a corner booth. Both of them receiving their usual drink. Joseph sat and listened to the wannabe singers on the stage. Most of them out of tune and off beat. It was hard for him to not sit there and cover his ears. Everyone in the bar knew him for his no filter and his sometimes out of control rage when his own viewpoints would be challenged or called retarded. Being autistic hasn’t made life easy for Joseph, but he does what is needed to have a good life. He does his best to keep good friends close and enemies as far away as possible. It helps when Kyle is able to help him figure out facial expressions and tones.
However, his hands went down as he saw a beautiful girl stepping up onto stage. Her golden hair shined under the stage lights. She didn’t look that nervous as she handed the man something. When the music started Joseph just couldn’t take his eyes off her. Kyle noticed this and smiled. The men sat listening to her song and Kyle could hear the hurt in her voice.
Joseph knew hurt, he knew pain, but he never liked to dwell on it. He saw the beauty and the goodness in people, and for most people he knew it could be difficult to see themselves. He didn’t understand that. But his last relationship had ended because the girl he had spent so much time with couldn’t believe he could love her for something other than her looks. She could be a bitch sometimes, but most women could be. He had wanted to be able to find someone that could love and see past his disability and somewhat celebrity status.
“Lovely song sweetie. Now,” The speaker said getting on the stage, “We have a little visit from a very special guest tonight. Everyone, welcome up Joseph Thompkins! Lead singer of 90 Degrees~!” Everyone started cheering happily as Kyle nudged Joseph to get up and wave. “Why don’t you come and sing for us boys?” Joseph smiled and darted up to the stage. Joseph took the mic and laughed a little. “Hey everyone, it’s good to be back. Some of you though...yeesh…” Everyone laughed. “How about a promo for a new single? Kyle! Need my drummer!” Kyle smirked and got up to the small stage where a drum set was stored. Joseph handed over the music and began.
When Joseph was finished he looked up to meet eyes with that beautiful girl at the bar. He couldn't keep himself from giving a little bow and making eye contact as he straightened back up. Kyle walked up behind him and patted his shoulder, "Go say hi. Introduce yourself." He whispered into Joseph's ear and the bubbly man did just that taking the seat right next to her giving a spin before facing the bartender. "Whiskey neat please."
Bartender smiled and got busy with the drink as Joseph turned his attention towards the woman. "Hi, I'm Joseph." He said with a genuine smile. "I have to say your voice is just...beautiful."

No one knew about her talents as far as singing and she liked it that way. Mostly because she didn't really see her voice as something that was that great.Still this song was one she had written after her ex turned out to be the biggest player of them all. The guy had gone missing after breaking her heart so at least out of sight, out of mind. Didn't make the pain less at the time but slowly she had just tried to forget about the memories. Every single tear she cried and pain that she felt came out with the song.
People clapped and the man coming up on the stage complimented her voice. There was a smirk on her lips as she quickly left the stage and found herself at the bar. "Grey goose martini. Double olive." Her voice spoke up to the bartender and she spun around on her stool. When the Bartender mentioned the lead singer of one of her favorite bands. For a minute she figured she was just trippin or someone was trying to play celebrity to escape a bar tab. Though it was a awesome surprise to look at the stage and see the two up there and she listened to the music.
Sipping on her drink she waited til it was over and her gaze caught Josephs as he came over. The compliment to her voice made her smirk as she offered to shake his hand. The warmth of her skin warmed his hand as her eyes stayed on his. "Chandra, but most call me Nova." She offered as a flame like flicker danced in her eyes. She wasn't openly admitting to being a hybrid since that carried a death sentence all of it own. Then again she wasn't hiding it either as she withdrew her hand.
Truth was her nervousness of meting this guy was making more than just her blood boil. The temperature in the room rose and drinks on the bar caught on fire. Everyone was starting to freak out which made her frown and slide of her bar seat, Quickly darting out the door of the bar before anyone could say anything else. It was no secret the government hunted people like her and she wasn't about to end up in a test tube. Then again make a fool of herself in front of a famous crush kinda made her wish for it.

WHERE DO YOU GOWITH YOUR BROKEN HEART IN TOW, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE LEFTOVER YOU. LOOK ME IN THE ❤and tell me you won't go and promise no love's like our love. Shaking Nova’s hand felt warm and inviting as Joseph smiled. Seeing the flicker in her eyes though had him staring out of awe. He’d heard of people that had gotten powers from this time virus. He knew a few of his fans were. At least from the fan letters he read all the time. “It’s nice meeting you Nova.” He said and grabbed his drink taking a little sip before it caught fire.
“Holy shit!” Joseph almost dropped the drink as he placed it down and out the door Nova had gone. It was more out of shock, than it was out of fear. His eyes followed her to the door and his body moved on its own. He didn’t want her thinking that she was in danger. He’d heard stories about what the government did. Kyle had taken notice and smiled. He wasn’t overly worried about his friend.
Going out the door Joseph ran after Nova. “Nova! Wait!” He yelled. To most with the baggy clothes he wore some figured him for not being physically active. They would be wrong and surprised. Within a few minutes he caught up to her, lightly touching her shoulder and barely out of breath. “Hey… wanna come back to my place? You’ll be safe there.” He offered. Though to say he didn’t want her company in the first place would be a lie, his concern over her safety came through more.
