It was funny how the balance of power had always swung in Lulu's favor. Even when they were a power couple it was Lulu's sultry voice in his ear pulling all the strings and making all the choices. Johnny wasn't a bad leader, he just trusted her implicitly. He trusted the other members with his life, but he trusted Lulu with his lead. He would follow her through the flames of hell and back. Still would if she was in trouble.
Inside hie head, swimming in a sea of foggy alcohol, the wheels were turning. Slowly spinning, plotting on how to get her back. Hell, Johnny didn't even blame anyone who switched teams and went with Lulu. Mouse included. Lulu was a powerful persausive woman. She oozed confidence when standing in hell's kitchen. Johnny saw behind the mask when it slipped away. He never stopped loving her... Even with her faults. "Anytime I see you is cause to break out the 'good shit.'" Johnny confirmed.
Johnny's eyes rolled to the floor as he saw the keys landed with a jingle. He couldn't help but have a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He didn't enjoy seeing Lulu wasted, but the fact that she couldn't hop in her car and drive off was a major plus. Johnny saw the wobbly nature of her step. She seemed to pause and reevaluate her life choices by the door. Really she was just trying to let the double vision focus and decide if she was going to throw up in her mouth. johnny took the pause to mean that she didn't want to leave. Because, of course he did. Johnny Rome, a man of modest ego.
Without her realizing it Johnny was behind her. Standing close. The warmth of her hot skin was burning off her like a furnace. Her face was a little flushed, might have been the booze, but Johnny got that fluttery feeling in the pit of his stomach and that metallic-y feeling in the pit of his balls. A hand, cautious, practiced; slipped around Lulu's waiste and he pulled her body back into his standing in the doorway. The door was half open and the sounds of the Fool's Dice's bar drifted into his office. The sound of pool table balls clacking together. Muffled laughter and country rock spillin into the room from the jukebox.
Johnny's other hand found the door and pressed it closed. His breath was in her ear. Lips parted slightly as he took in a small gasp of breathe. On the exhale he sighed out breathelessly...."I fucking missed you Lu." He pleaded. Yes, It was a desperate plea. He didn't care about power or control or the struggle to keep up appearances. He didn't want to put on a show. He didn't want her to think that he was better off without her because he wasn't. Johnny Rome was the life of the party, but without her he might has well have been dead inside.
Johnny's forehead nestled against the back of her head. He closed his eyes and breathed deep taking in the scent of her hair. Strawberries splashing playfully against kiwi in a battle of fruity fragrences clashing within his nostrils. Why was he doing this? Why had he even let it get this far? They had built an empire, but ruling alone was more depressing than the thought of carrying on the empire without her next to him. "Stay in my room tonight." It was demanding, soft spoken and more of an invitation; despite him saying it with an air of control. Johnny was up for a house and kids. The whole nine fucking yards.
Fast cars and flashy jewels was something that he built their trust on. When he showed her this new life. Pulled her out of being a waitress and gave her the first respect she had ever had in her life, he was trying to drop the world at her feet. Anything she wanted, he acquired. Now because Johnny Rome needed that superfluious shit to be happy, but because he needed her to be happy. He wanted her to have everything she had never had before. Fingers curled against the fabric just barely concealing her upper thigh.
Johnny pulled her lightly back against himself. His lips found the soft sloping curve of her neck and he pulled away the shirt from her shoulder so that his lips could find a little more goosepimple covered flesh to explore. He felt shaking in her knees once more, and though it wasn't entirely certain if it was the drink or his lips that was making her wobble; his grip grew tigher either way. It felt good to have her in his arms again. To wrap his arms around his dreams and not let go.
